Warning: Spoilers for Game of Thrones: Season 8985 Archives Episode 4 below.

Game of Thrones faked everyone out again.

After last episode's supreme twist wherein Arya killed the Night King, the show surprised its audience by dishing up a large helping of fan service followed by a steaming pile of disappointment.

On the good side, the Battle of Winterfell party made many people happy by showcasing fun character moments and long-awaited moments like Gendry proposing to Arya and Brienne finally banging Jamie. On the bad side, the tension between Dany and Jon became unbearable as the final season marched towards the doom of yet another dragon and the beloved Missandei.

Twitter was also rightfully upset that various other plot lines ended unceremoniously, including the sidelining of Jon's direwolf Ghost (who just gets to go north of the Wall without Jon so much as petting him goodbye), Tormund leaving Westeros for the lands above the wall, Jamie leaving Brienne in the same episode they got together, and Tyrion and Varys waffling over whether to support Jon or Dany after the news of Jon's heritage spreads like wildfire.

At this point no one should be surprised that a party can go wrong on Game of Thrones, but this episode in particular was a roller coaster of emotions that ended on a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad note.

With Rhaegal and Missandei dead, Tormund gone, Brienne brokenhearted, Jon following Ned's footsteps down south, Tyrion and Varys plotting treason, and Danerys pissed off beyond reason, it's going to be a very interesting two final episodes to HBO's massive hit show.

But if the social reaction to tonight's plot line is any example of how pissed people are going to be with the show's final movements, it looks like Twitter is the place to look for the consensus on what Game of Thrones' legacy will be.
