【Taste of Future Sister-in-law】

SAN DIEGO -- There may not be Taste of Future Sister-in-lawan official 'Last Jedi' panel at Comic-Con this year, but that doesn't mean Lucasfilm can't whet our appetite for the next movie in the Skywalker saga.

As at previous conventions, a costume exhibit contains a few tantalizing new story details, plus a new character and the return of an old favorite.

First off, the diorama of characters at the 'Last Jedi' booth on the show floor, unveiled Wednesday night, reveals the path everyone's favorite soccer ball droid, BB-8, takes through the film.

"BB-8 continues his service to Poe Dameron, but also is a good friend and resourceful ally to Finn and Rose during their mission to thwart the First Order," the exhibit says.

The 'Last Jedi' behind-the-scenes video, unveiled at D23 last weekend, showed Finn and new character Rose in First Order garb -- in a scene that looked very similar to Jyn Erso and Cassian Andor infiltrating an imperial complex in Rogue One. Now we know BB-8 will assist the Resistance spies, just as K-2SO assisted the rebels.

Secondly, the exhibit contains Nien Nunb -- who last got serious screentime as Lando Calrissian's co-pilot in Return of the Jedisome 34 years ago.

Meanwhile Poe Dameron, played by Oscar Isaac, appears to have a more significant story arc in the upcoming film than he had in The Force Awakens.

Dameron "shines as a daring squadron leader," the exhibit says. But this time out he's "brash and foolhardy," and his "hot shot antics wear the patience of both First Order and Resistance command."

Finally the exhibit revealed one new creature, an alien Resistance pilot named C’ai Threnalli -- revealed as Poe Dameron's wingman.

With apologies to all who hoped Poe and Finn would continue their adventures from Force Awakens,it seems Last Jediwill pull the pair of heroes in very different directions.
