HBO's horrifying, unforgettable five-part miniseries tries to comprehend one of history's worst man-made disasters. Taking home the gold for Best Television Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television, Chernobyldramatizes the events surrounding the devastating explosion that occurred at Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant in Ukraine, Soviet Union on April 26, 1986. The series focuses on the stories of those involved in the events and affected by the fallout, some of whom are played by Globe nominees Jared Harris, Emily Watson, and best supporting actor winner Stellan Skarsgård. Catch 22

Joseph Heller's classic 1961 satirical war novel comes to the streaming screen in this six-part Hulu original series. Co-directed, executive produced, and starring George Clooney as the General Scheisskopf, Catch 22flies through Heller's skewering of the absurd, frustrating, and uncompromising nature of war. Though it looks like a comedy, as Mashable's Proma Khosla writes in this review, "Make no mistake, friends, this is a war epic, and a searing, caustic commentary from the men inside it." Alongside the overarching Globe nomination for the series, Girls star Christopher Abbott was nominated for a best actor Globe for his role as protagonist John Yossarian.

Fosse/Verdon

Life is a cabaret, old chum, especially for Michelle Williams and Sam Rockwell, who earned Globe nominations for their portrayals of legendary Broadway duo Gwen Verdon and Bob Fosse in this eight-part BBC/FX series. Fosse/Verdonhigh kicks its way into the partnership between the iconic choreographer/director behind the likes of Cabaret and All That Jazz, and the four-time Tony Winning dancer and all-round stage star. Williams ended up taking home the gold for best actress, and used her acceptance speech to present a strong message.

The Loudest Voice

Russell Crowe won best actor for his role as Fox News founder and former CEO Roger Ailes, who resigned in 2016 after being accused of sexual assault. Showtime's seven-part limited series,The Loudest Voice, was based on Gabriel Sherman's 2014 biography and delves into a decade over which Ailes launches Fox News in 1996 before his resignation, all while becoming a de facto leader of the Republican Party. Mashable's Proma Khosla dubbed the series "political masochism theater."

Unbelievable

Katilyn Dever, Merritt Wever, and Toni Collette all nabbed Globe nominations for their role in Netflix's Unbelievable, so if it's powerful performances you're after, this is it. Based on a true story, the gripping eight-part crime series tracks two detectives looking into the case of a young woman, Marie, who was charged with lying about having been raped. As Mashable's Ali Foreman put it, "Unbelievablehas done everything it can to give a voice to a victim who deserved one long ago."
